Our progress on our fundraiser...

ok, so far, we've come an excellent distance for the amount of time we've put in. On September 28, on a sunday, we are having a bake sale and car wash at advanced auto parts;the one across the street from k-mart and kanes furniture. The irony is, advanced auto parts happens to already be sponsoring the JDRF. We have a ton of people signed up to vulunteer, and a good amount of people who promised to come and get their car washed. I even emailed 933flz the other night and asked if they could help advertise our efforts on the radio station. The program director informed me that they would be more than happy to announce it for us. Everywhere I look now, I think of diabetes or hear about it. And on my saynow.com, already 7 jonas brothers fans have contacted me saying how sweet this is of us, and how we are inspiring them. I'm telling you, I think God has a plan for this fundraiser. I also made our donation box today. We have a total of 40$ made. For not even starting the events yet, we are proud of that small sum of money. So to all of those philanthropists out there, cmon, lets help stop diabetes. . .

we're getting famous!!

ok so I just contacted 93.3flz about them advertising our upcoming car washes and bake sales for our diabetes fundraiser. The program director emailed me back saying that they would happily announce it. To just hit them up on email a couple days b4 the event. They're gonna make it public!!
In addition, I feel that what we are doing is kinda meant to be. Mikela and I walked into advanced auto parts today and asked if we could set up a car wash. But we noticed that on the wall, they had quite a bit of those paper converse shoes that mean that customer is donating money to that charity. Well, turns out, advanced auto parts is already starting to sponsor it. So us picking that place for our key car wash spot is unbelievably mind boggling. I also tuned into the tv set today, and the very 1st commercial was about diabetes. Is god speaking to me????/ Is this really gonna be as successful as we were hoping it would be?????

Walk for Diabetes

In April 2009, there will be a walk for diabetes at the st. pete times forum. My close friends and I are planning to go, but we wanted to be able to donate a couple thousand dollars. So the deal is: We are getting as many people as we know to come together and commit to activities such as car washing, bake sales, fundraisers, etc to earn the money. This will all take place over a 7-8 month period, meaning that there will be a multitude number of times we are holding these events. Therefore, any volunteer is not forced to attend all of the events. Even 1 would be a help. So if you would like to be a part of this and help with the carwashes, etc, just contact me and I'll clue you in. Once the big walk comes, we plan on presenting the charity with the money. So this is very exciting to us. If you are interested in helping with car washes, bake sales, etc, just contact me. :) " Just a little bit longer, and they'll all be fine..."

elementary 101!

so today, I was literaly sitting at home and playing basketball as I watched the brandon high sross country team run by. I came inside to cool off, and i recieved a text from my best friend mikela saying " OMG Mrs. Shettle is here!!" She ended up telling me it was game night, and that a lot of my elementary teachers were there. I couldnt resist but to ride my bike there. It may have taken me quite a while, not to mention I felt like I was roasting in an oven, but I made it. The first teacher i saw : Mrs. Shettle; 4th grade reading and writing class. Now this is the cool part: She saw me, and her mouth dropped about 3 inches. I'm not exxagerating. She flipped out. She put her hands on my cheeks and hugged me. " My 6 girl! I could never forget you!" She told mikela and I how she remembered all of our scores, and just the thought of such a caring teacher almost put me to tears. I loved Mrs. Shettle, and these past few years were scary because she had cancer I think, and we werent sure if she was going to make it. But now, she's up and running as a teacher again. Also tonight, I encountered Mrs. Johnson: 3rd grade science and mathematics, and Mrs. Holloman: 4th grade science and mathematics. I got lots of hugs. I also saw my old media specialist, allthough i never actually talked to her. And I saw my old assistant principal, who is now the head honcho himself. Go Mr. Shields!!! For the majority of the night, however, Mikela and I hung out with a friend of ours from Brandon High school. Zach Barnes. he was soooo flippin funny that I almost died from laughing. I almost choked on what i was eating. Zach is hilarious............... So tonite was awesome!! Much Much MUCH better that sitting alone at the house waiting for my mom to get off of work. Cant wait to see what the weekend brings!! :)
